Wetter, Germany, 11 March 2025. Presented for the first time at LogiMAT 2024, Demag is now showcasing further DHR rope hoist designs. The EK-DHR standard series is supplemented by the F-DHR foot-mounted hoist and the EZ-DHR double-rail crab.
Compact, powerful and versatile: these are striking features of the DHR rope hoists that Demag developed last year for series production – with a view to the large market for standard applications in crane technology worldwide.
The EK-DHR version with short crab design optimised for crane use was presented for the first time at LogiMAT 2024. Two new series are now being added: the F-DHR foot-mounted hoist and the EZ-DHR double-rail crab. Crane and system builders can also choose from the compact basic hoist for stationary applications, which can be mounted on the wall or stood on the floor. A reeving device is available as an option.
Developed for a wide range of applications in all crane technology, the complete DHR series is characterised by its compact dimensions and low weight. Other key features include its high performance and load capacity along with its minimum service requirements. The motor and gearbox are easily accessible and the rope drum bearing does not need to be lubricated.
Three different motor solutions are available for the hoist drives, depending on the application needs: from two-stage hoist motors (6:1 ratio) to inverter-controlled motors that can achieve load-dependent speeds of up to factor 3 thanks to the Demag ProHub function. The EK-DHR monorail version of the cross-travel drive is also equipped with the Demag DualDrive as standard, a powerful solution in which one belt drives two wheels simultaneously. A second motor can even be used as an option for challenging conditions, depending on the size (DHR 10).
Users who want to save weight and make it easier for the service personnel to change the rope have the option of using a high-strength synthetic rope instead of the steel rope in the DHR rope hoist. The Dyneema ropes weigh around 85% less and cause no wear on the rope drum or guide rollers. There is also no need to lubricate the rope. The DHR wire rope hoist also accommodates users who want to change over. As the drum geometry is identical for both rope types, a later change from synthetic rope to steel rope version is possible.
The innovative control and safety technology of the DHR series sets it apart from its predecessor, the DVR series, as well as from many other wire rope hoist series. Since the crane components communicate via an optional CAN bus, this means that numerous safety-relevant parameters can be automatically monitored. In addition, the user can choose from various smart features to adapt the rope hoist to specific applications for maximum impact – for example load sway damping, bypass control and hook centering. Equipped in this way, the standard rope hoist also takes on demanding lifting and handling tasks.
It is not only the rope hoist electronics that satisfy the highest demands, either – communication with the user is on the same level. The web-based remote monitoring tool StatusControl 2.0 enables the monitoring of numerous functions even remotely.
With the Demag Equipment App (DEA), users and service personnel can track up-to-date rope hoist or crane data in real time on their terminal device. Trained users can also adjust the DHR's parameters. Being connected by wireless means that the DHR can facilitate software updates over the air for existing cranes. The DHR has also been further upgraded in terms of safety: features such as the ergonomically shaped hook block with guide handle and intervention guard set new standards for ergonomic and safe crane operation.
With the expansion of the series to LogiMAT 2025, four DHR rope hoist types in different load-bearing classes up to 20 t are now available. However, the series is not yet complete and further versions will follow.
